What is the Stanly County Employee Health Clinic?

This clinic offers on-site Physician Extender services to all Stanly County employees and their dependents who are covered under the current health insurance plan.


What are the benefits for you and your family to participate in this program?

There are many benefits including:

  • reduces out-of-pocket medical costs for employee;
  • reduces time away from work for medical visits;
  • reduces county’s cost for medical visits;
  • offers convenient appointment times; and
  • maximizes efficient use of health care resources.


When and where are these services available?

These services are provided at the Stanly County Health Department located at Stanly Commons, Suite 3 in Albemarle.  The hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm by appointment only.


What is the cost?

There is no co-pay charged. Employee/dependent are responsible for prescription costs if one is written.

What medical services are provided?

Medical services provided will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Colds
  • Sore throat/Strep
  • Flu
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Earache
  • Upset stomach
  • Acute bronchitis
  • Pink eye
  • Ear wax removal
  • Minor skin irritations/Rashes
  • Sprains
  • Minor abrasives/Bruises
  • Minor burns
  • Insect bites/Stings
  • Suture removal
  • Wound checks
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Sunburn
  • Mono
  • Adult immunizations
  • Some lab work


How do I schedule an appointment?

To make an appointment, call 704-986-3097.  Most appointments can be arranged for the same day or within two (2) days.

What do I need to bring to the clinic visit?

Employee and/or dependent must bring current blue Cross/Blue Shield  insurance card. It would be helpful to bring a list of the person’s allergies as well as medications and doses they are taking.

Do I still need a primary care doctor if I use this clinic?

Yes, this service does not replace your primary care provider. The service augments your primary health care provider’s care. Chronic disease management is not offered through this clinic. Chronic diseases include asthma, diabetes, heart disease, COPD, etc.

What services are not provided at this clinic?

Work related injuries are referred to Occupational Health and Safety at Carolinas HealthCare System Stanly. Other services not provided include:

  • Allergy shots
  • Suturing
  • Eye foreign body removal or irrigation
  • Breathing treatments
  • Contraceptives

Where should infants or children get their immunizations?

They should get them at their pediatrician’s office as they are include in the cost of the Well Child exams.
